The only charity work I managed to get done pre-or-post-surgery were some pillowcases and this cross body bag that went to Sew Powerful, a non-profit that is helping young girls in Zambia. I had all necessary materials on hand, so it cost me nothing but my time and some postage. Wish I could have done more, but I will probably do some more in the spring. I'm going to do a few more pillowcases before I drop them off to the recipient agency and will try to remember to post photos of all of them first.
Well, okay, so it's been longer than I thought and longer than I said it would be, but I did make my way back here. There is so much catching up to do, so let's get started. This post will catch up to the wedding, but before hip surgery. Part 2 will catch up post surgery Christmas handmade gifts. Before I got to the purse, I had some wedding projects to do and some of them got photographed and some did not. I still never got around to taking pictures of the autumn themed grapevine wreaths, but they were a lovely addition to the church decor (hung on the main entrance doors.) Then I made table numbers with brown burlap, ivory pearl beads and brown painted wood backgrounds. I thought they were quite nice with the autumn centerpieces on each table. The biggest hit, however, were the bridesmaids' clutch purses. I did get a few photos at the wedding. The bridesmaids' purses were all in the brown lace over tan cotton and the bride's was, of course, the white on white. All of them were lined with casual orange prints. All the ladies were thrilled with these REVERSIBLE bags that can now be used for everyday fashion. The bride stuffed the maids' bags quite full of necessary/emergency items they might need for the wedding and presented them at the rehearsal dinner. I so enjoyed making these and wound up making one for myself for casual wear. I didn't need a bag for the wedding, so mine is a casual print lined with another print in a coordinating color. The pattern was the "Marie Clutch" from an etsy shop called "CaDesignBum", and it was very well done, with accurate pattern pieces and very good instructions. I'd be confident ordering any of her other design patterns in the future and I'm certain anyone would be pleased with them.

Wow, Judith! You are such a busy bee. Lots going on. Thanks for using my little clutch pattern :) Love the clutches and your Sew Powerful bags too. Thank you for sharing your talent and for spreading the word on such a great organization. Can't wait to see what you have planned next!
