I had this post ready to go a few weeks ago and somehow just didn't hit the "publish button," so I'm publishing it now and will have another, more up-to-date one soon.
I have always enjoyed drawing, but haven't done much of it in many, many years. I used to do a lot of charcoal drawings back in high school and in my early twenties. As I grew older, I tended to focus my creative energies on sewing and then making dolls. Recently, I realized that I had some stuff that needed to come out, so now I am drawing and getting reading to try some acrylic and oil painting. Most of my experience with acrylics have been in doing my doll faces, both on cloth and small wooden beads. My niece sort of steered me in the direction of Zentangle drawing and I have become addicted to that type of thing ever since I began shortly after my surgery. I have found that I am leaning towards doing a rather simplified flower and then tangling around it, but I also enjoy making a simple flower a bit more realistic with colored pencil or marker. I will probably do a lot in the near future with both of these styles. Meanwhile, here's a small sampling of what I've done so far:

I have found that I do prefer my tangles at least shaded to give them a more solid and interesting texture, but even more, I prefer them with a little color. The faeries started out colorless, but I gave them a bit of color, as I wanted them to be sort of in between worlds, so a bit faded.
